2003 May 27:
Today I played a bit of volleyball - I really need to work on my serve. Every 3rd or 4th serve, I shank it and send it flying off to the side. I also picked up my Arc'Teryx Alpha SV Bibs after repairs were made on them. I tore them with my ice axe on my last trip and had to duct tape that shit for a day. Made me look all hardcore and all the instructors had a good laugh. Now I have a patch on my pants and I look even more hardcore. They are by far the best bibs ever. They are water, wind and dirt proof. Very light and great for layering. They will withstand anything - except the pointy side of an ice axe. I also took a spin on the Trionfo. It's greased lightning - I want to do 50 miles on that bike so bad. I think at 52, the bike might be too big for me, but it helps me tuck in real low. It has a remarkably smooth ride due to the carbon fiber stays and fork. The seat is actually pretty comfortable even though it's rock hard. Guess I might have to return it and get a 50 in a few months. Gotta love REI's return policy. They better take it back, since I spend a sizable chunk of my net income on their stuff when I should be eliminating hunger in a 3rd world nation instead. Also picked up an auto-locking carabiner for my personal anchor. Since the weather is really nice now - might have to go shopping for spring clothes, bring the volleyball to work, and get back into shape. Finally beginning to get toasty brown from the sun. Up for this week? Wednesday is movie night, Thursday is an art showing, and friday is driving down to Andrew's place to prepare for the Nisqually Glaicer this weekend. I should have pictures from inside a crevasse soon =)
